Compressed experiment
Controls:
- arrows to move (walk, jump)
- LShift for a dash
The character has the ability to wall jump and double-jump
Instructions:
On the very begining you are asked to create a name, it is just restricted to 6 characters in total, you can also leave it empty, but your score will not be submitted. I reserve the right to delete any inapropriate names as there is yet no input validation, so please, try to be kind.
You get to choose between 2 levels you can play. You can switch between leveles anytime by pressing [TAB] and choosing another level.
The Goal is to get the best score. The game loop is very simple, go thru the start/finish line in order to start the timer. Collect 2 flags and get back to the finish line. Repeat.
In each level, there are few hidden areas where you can rest with your character and observe the beautiful view along with few words (by @yardnicus)
The music is composed by @Alien
About:
The game is very simple and minimalistic, your only goal is to run the course and get the best time possible. You can try to compete with others and try to get into top 10. There is not much else at this point, only one level and one leaderboard.
The game was supposed to be done as a part of Brackeys Game jam 2022.1 but it wasn't due to a lack of time.
My main gol was to create a simple platformer with working online highscore and I will continue improoving that knowledge. I would like to release a new map every 1-2 weeks and add some more features and content, yet still, try to keep it very minimalistic.
Please feel free to let me know any feedback or what you would like to see here in the future.
Thanks for playing

Really cool game, but the high-score times are buggy. The time submitted is sometimes way faster than your actual run.
Hmm I see, that is very nice score :D Can you help me out a little and tell me how you went thru the level, as it seems that you were not running it "in intended way" :D
Nope, I ran through it the intended way. I was intentionally killing myself to reset the time tho, so maybe that?
And btw, my time on 2nd level is also bugged, no way 10s is possible.
What's also interesting is, that both times the bug happened, I was on WR pace, not sure if it is related tho.
But I assume, that you are not able to run into the bug everytime right? Would help if you'd remembered what were your real times... I think I know where the issue might be though
No, not every time. I was able to upload normal times before I achieved the 0s. And after that on 2nd level I uploaded a normal time before the 10s came.
About the real times, both of them would have been 1st place. Also if I remember correctly, the 0s made the best and last times incorrect, they were displaying about 0s. But in the 10s time the last and best times were showing the actual correct time of about 25s, even though time of 10s was uploaded.
On unrelated note, I just noticed that the time pauses when te Hi-Scores are open, but gravity still takes effect. So opening it before taking a big fall can save you quite a bit of time :P
Hah, really nice catch with gravity not being affected by pause :D
I will have a look at the times again. Thank you so much for the input! And congrats to really nice times
Awesome :D
Thanks mate! :)
